CPA

Taxes for households,businesses, and farms.

A quiet desk with a closed ledger, brass lamp, and fountain pen against a deep green wall.
The practice, not a call center.

Year-end

Before the calendar turns

The dates above are the deadlines. These are the decisions that get expensive in January. This is not a filing plan.

Talk through your year
  • Farm timing

Prepaid supplies, equipment you are already buying, and when livestock or crop sales land.

  • Owner pay

Wages, draws, and distributions are harder to unwind in January than to set in the fall.

  • Purchases you were making anyway

Timing a real purchase can matter. Buying something only for the deduction usually does not.

  • Life changes

Marriage, a move, a child, a home sale, a new business or farm, or a closed one.

About

It's Personal

I'm Patrick Adkins, a CPA with more than seven years of experience preparing personal, business, and farm tax returns.

You work directly with me. Not a team of people you will never meet, and not an automated system.

Engagement

How the work starts

  1. 01

    A first conversation

What is due, what is unsettled, and whether this is the right practice for it. No engagement yet.

  2. 02

    A written scope

The work, the documents I need, the timing, and the fee. You see it before anything starts.

  3. 03

    The work, then a review

You do not get a number dropped in your lap. We walk through what it means and what to watch next.

Questions

Before you write

Are you taking new clients?

Yes, when the work is a fit. Filing season is the tightest stretch. Tax planning is easier in the fall and early winter.

How do fees work?

By the scope of the work, quoted in writing before it starts. You should not meet the price for the first time on the invoice.

What should I bring to a first conversation?

The last return if you have it, a sense of what changed this year, and the question you actually want answered. You do not need finished books, or finished farm records, to start.
